The hospital earned a national distinction for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group from 2012 to 2016, and it received the 2016 Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence from Healthgrades for the fifth consecutive year, as well as Healthgrades' 2016 America's 100 Best Hospitals Award for the second consecutive year.          The Progressive Care Unit is a 49 bed Critical Care/Telemetry step down unit.  This team-oriented unit provides care to a diverse cardiac population (i.e., congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, respiratory compromise and dysrhythmias), as well as patients with multi-system compromise, neuro and chronic illnesses. The unit also cares for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization (including post-interventional care), electrophysiology procedures and many other specialty surgical procedures. Patients on this unit may be on drips including Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, Cardene, Dobutamine and Lasix.  Laptop stations, located at the bedside, allow real-time electronic medication administration (e-MAR) and documentation. This department's ancillary staff includes Patient Care Techs, a Unit Secretary and dedicated Monitor Techs to monitor and interpret patients' cardiac rhythms at all times.   Position Description:   The Position is under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager and the Supervisor of the Nursing Unit. According to hospital policies and procedures, the Staff Nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for assigned patients.
